Kolari R Drop-in Filters for Canon EF-EOS R Lens Mount Adapter (VND)

Fine-tune light reduction on the fly with a variable neutral density range.

Image name: Cyberpunk, Author name: Pierre-Louis Ferrer

The Kolari R Drop-in Variable ND Filter offers a flexible range of light reduction with a simple twist, making it perfect for run-and-gun video, hybrid shooters, and changing light conditions. Built with ultra-flat optics for minimal color shift and vignetting, this filter gives you the freedom to fine-tune exposure without swapping filters or adjusting your aperture.

Kolari R Drop-in Filters for Canon EF-EOS R Lens Mount Adapter (EF/EF-S to RF) are designed with both durability and usability in mind. Each filter is machined from solid aluminum with a wide grip and a lanyard attachment point, offering lightweight strength, secure handling, and user-friendly customization. Our precision-fit attachment system applies just the right amount of pressure, making it easy to swap filters intuitively—while ensuring they stay firmly in place during use.

All Kolari R Drop-in Filters for Canon EF-EOS R Lens Mount Adapter (EF/EF-S to RF) feature advanced AR (anti-reflective) and AS (anti-smudge) coatings for improved light transmission, reduced reflections, and easy cleaning.

Works with:

Canon RF-mount camera bodies (e.g. EOS R, R5/R6/R7/R8/R50/RP) and RED Komodo/V-Raptor

Canon EF & EF-S lenses (mounted “behind” the adapter)

Drop-in filters from:

Kolari R series (ND, IR/UV-cut, UV-bandpass, IR-ND, etc.)

Canon’s own EF→RF drop-in filters

Meike-compatible drop-in filters

Does not work with:

RF-mount lenses (they cannot be attached through this adapter)

Standard front-mounted filters (only drop-in style filters fit the internal slot)

You may see a color cast or X effect when using our VND Filters at their highest stop values (8–10 stop or 14–16 stop) with certain ultrawide angle lenses.

Our 6-15 Stop Dark Variable Neutral Density (VND) Filter is specifically designed for controlling light exposure in photography and is not suitable for solar photography, including photographing the sun directly or during solar eclipse events.

Using this filter for solar photography can cause damage to the filter itself and potentially lead to it burning. Moreover, such misuse could result in damage to your photography equipment and pose a risk of injury. We strongly advise against using this filter for capturing images of the sun or during any solar phenomena to ensure the safety of both your gear and yourself.

Our VND filters are recommended for general, visible light, photography. For infrared-ND photography we recommend using our fixed IRND filters available here. Due to the physical limitations of the polarizing filters used in VNDs; these filters may cause issues when used for infrared photography above 665nm! Combining VND’s with infrared above 665nm may cause color shifting and ineffective light stoppage.

We understand that post-processing IR images can be challenging at first but don’t worry, we have many resources and tutorials available for IR photographers. Here are a few of our most popular IR post-processing resources below:

Our IR filters are made to work with full-spectrum modified cameras to target a specific wavelength or artistic effect. These filters either completely block visible light while only letting near-infrared pass or offer a mixture of both visible and near IR light. Useful for fine art, forensics, and many other professional applications.

IR Filter Options:

550nm Infrared – Inspired by false-color IR film, the 550nm can produce deep blue skies and pink foliage. This filter lets in more visible light than the 590nm filter and can be used to emulate aerochrome (but not as easily as our IR Chrome Filter) after a channel swap and a few hue adjustments. The unique colors that can be achieved with this filter are perfect for interesting IR landscapes. This filter requires post-processing and is compatible with a full spectrum camera.

590nm Infrared – The 590nm filter can produce vibrant false colors while allowing for flexibility in post-processing. It’s typically used to produce golden-yellow foliage and bright blue skies. This filter requires post-processing and is compatible with a full spectrum or a lower cutoff IR converted camera.

665nm – The 665nm filter can produce vibrant false colors with good B+W contrast. It’s typically used to produce light yellow leaves or the classic white IR look with blue skies. This filter requires post-processing and is compatible with a full spectrum or a lower cutoff IR converted camera.

720nm Infrared – The classic IR filter, the 720nm filter is great for blue sky false color and provides great contrast and dynamic range for B+W. This filter requires post-processing and is compatible with a full spectrum or lower cutoff IR converted camera.

780nm Infrared – The 780nm IR filter creates the classic high contrast B&W IR effect straight out of camera while letting in more light than a traditional 850nm filter. Perfect for B&W IR photography with minimum post-processing, hotspots are also less severe when using this filter. This filter requires post-processing and is compatible with a full spectrum or lower cutoff IR converted camera.

850nm Infrared – The 850nm IR filter creates the classic high contrast B+W IR effect straight out of camera. This filter is compatible with a full spectrum or lower cutoff IR converted camera. It can also be used with some stock cameras with a long exposure.

IR Chrome Lite – The IR Chrome Lite uses both infrared and visible light to mimic the look of the classic Kodak Aerochrome IR film with little to no editing. This filter is only for use with a full spectrum converted camera. Its thin glass design allows it to work behind the lens and achieves richer color than the original IR Chrome.

Some delivery addresses are classified by DHL as remote areas. These are locations that are farther away from major cities or standard delivery routes, such as rural towns, islands, or hard-to-reach regions.

Because of the extra time and cost required to deliver there, DHL applies a Remote Area Surcharge (RAS).

With our shipping calculator, these surcharges are now shown before you place your order.

If your address is flagged as a remote area, we recommend checking whether you have an alternative address (such as a workplace or a friend/family member’s address) that is not on DHL’s remote area list. This can help you avoid the surcharge.
