The 2024 Kolari Vision Solar Eclipse Photo Contest (the “Contest”), sponsored by Kolari Vision LLC (“Sponsor”).
A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize will be awarded, as well as a maximum of three (3) honorable mentions.
Prize Terms: All winners and honorable mentions will be announced and featured on our website. Custom-engraved gold body caps for any of the models that we offer (Fujifilm X, Leica M, Canon RF, Nikon Z, Sony E-mount) will serve as trophies with the winner’s name, prize place, and year.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd-pace prize winners will receive their choice of one (1) of the following:
Winners receiving physical merchandise or a conversion service will be eligible for free domestic shipping if located in the United States. Non-US winners must pay shipping charges for international shipping. Delivery of specific prize items may vary subject to item availability and order processing times. Specific conversion and filter options are subject to stock availability. Prizes cannot be used towards Leica M9 repair or conversion services.
Honorable mentions will win a $50 Gift Card.

ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open only to individuals, eighteen (18) years or older at time of entry, excluding residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, the province of Quebec, Sudan, Syria and any other jurisdiction where this contest is prohibited. Employees of Kolari Vision LLC, subsidiaries or affiliates, their immediate families (defined as parents, children, siblings, spouse and grandparents), and those domiciled with any of the foregoing are not eligible.
ENTRY: All entrants must submit a .jpg or .png file. You must enter electronically. Entry is free. Entries are limited to one (1) per person; exceeding this may result in disqualification.

Submissions to the Contest must be received by 11:59 p.m. May 8th, 2024, Eastern Time (“EST”), in order to be eligible; entries received after that date will be deemed ineligible to win. All submitted entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned; Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, inaccurate, incomplete, damaged, illegible, or misdirected entries. Each entry must be submitted on an individual basis (i.e., no team, joint, or corporate entries) and all components of the entry must be the original creation of the submitting participant. Only non-commercial work may be submitted. Entries may not contain profanity, nudity, pornographic images, violent images, anti-competition messages, illegal material, or material that violates the rights of third parties. Entries may not include confidential information, trade secrets, trademarks or copyrighted material belonging to any person or entity other than the entrant absent a suitable license or permission agreement, proof of which is required. Entries containing any forbidden matter or material otherwise deemed by Sponsor to be inappropriate will be disqualified. Online entries will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of entry.
PHOTO MANIPULATION: Post-processing of images is allowed. This includes channel swapping and global adjustments to exposure, contrast, burning, dodging, cropping, sharpening, noise reduction, and tone. Minor cleaning of images is permitted, including the removal of dust and scratches. HDR, panoramas, focus stacking or other techniques that involve using multiple images taken at the same time and place are also allowed. While digital manipulation is permitted, please keep in mind this is not a Photoshop competition. Images that appear to be overly processed may be disqualified at the judges’ discretion.
JUDGING: A panel of judges consisting of Kolari Vision editors will select the winning entries based equally upon the criteria of originality, skill, and relevance. By entering, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules, and that the decisions of the judges are final and binding in all respects. Judging will be completed and potential winners will be notified by email on or before May 8th, 2024. Potential winners may be required to sign and return a sworn Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and Publicity Release. If required documentation is not returned within seven (7) business days of notification, or if notification is returned as undeliverable, any prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected.
PRIZE AWARDS: Prizes can be claimed between May 8th and November 8th, 2024. Any prizes or credits not claimed or redeemed by 11:59 p.m. November 8th, 2024, Eastern Time (“EST”), will be forfeited. No prize substitution or transfer is permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value, for any reason. Sponsor is required by law to report prize values to taxing authorities; all taxes and any other incidental expenses on prizes are the sole responsibility of each winner.
GENERAL RULES & LIMITATIONS: By entering, you represent and warrant that: (i) your entry is your own original work; and (ii) you have the legal right to convey the below-identified rights in your entry to Sponsor. By entering, you grant to Sponsor a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to reproduce and republish your entry, along with your name and likeness, in any and all media, without further permission, notice or compensation (except where prohibited by law). Entrant shall retain copyright in the entry; any use of an entry will be credited to the original entrant. By participating in the Contest, you agree to release Sponsor and its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, directors, officers, and agents from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, possession, use, or misuse of any prize. Sponsor is not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures, or other errors or problems which may occur in connection with the Contest, whether computer, network, technical, mechanical, typographical, printing, human or otherwise, including, without limitation, errors or problems which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing or judging of entries, the announcement of the prizes, in any Contest-related materials, or that may limit prize fulfillment or a participant’s ability to enter the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to amend these official rules and to disqualify permanently from the Contest any person it believes has intentionally violated these official rules.
PRIVACY: By entering, you agree that the information you provide may be sent to promotional partners of the Sponsor. You may be contacted by the Sponsor and/or promotional partners with future promotional offers. Information provided by you to participate in this Contest is subject to the privacy policies of the Sponsor.
By submitting content for publication at Kolari Vision L.L.C., (hereto also known as KV) you are agreeing to and stipulating the following:
(1) By uploading your photographic or graphic works to KV you retain full rights to those works that you had prior to uploading;
(2) The content you are submitting is owned or duly licensed by you;
(3) You are granting Kolari Vision L.L.C. a worldwide non-exclusive license to use the content on the KV website for as long as the website exists;
(4) The license granted to KV includes the right to use your content fully or partially for promotional reasons, and to distribute your content to other parties, web-sites, applications, and other entities, such as KV’s affiliate sites like Instagram, facebook.com, tumbr.com, twitter, Google Plus, etc.
(5) If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
You represent and warrant that:
(1) You are the owner of all rights, including all copy rights in and to all content you submit to the site;
(2) The content does not defame any person and does not infringe upon the copyright, moral rights, publicity rights, privacy rights or any other right of any person, or violate any law or judicial or governmental order.
Agreements in Good Faith by Kolari Vision L.L.C.:
(1) All submissions will be considered for publication, though there is no guarantee of publication.
(2) KV is interested in maintaining the highest level of professionalism and integrity, and will reject any material containing pornography or cruelty to animals.
(3) For the removal of published content, if you for any reason wish your photographs to be removed from the website, you are to notify us in writing through email and we will make every effort to remove the content from the KV website. Be advised, however, that third parties may have downloaded, stored, or archived content from the KV website and we have no control over such downloading and use and cannot accept responsibility for any such use. We recommend placing your own copyright or watermark over your submitted content in case third parties do not proactively contribute your credits to the content.
