I recently bought a converted Canon SZ7 and am quite happy with the photos I’ve obtained with the camera. In the old film days I often wished to do IR photography but never did owing to the complexity among other things.
I have a couple of old digital cameras- an Olympus C2000Z and a Minolta Dimage 7 which I’ve used. This little converted Canon, however, is much more convenient in that I don’t need any extra filters and it’s small enough to fit in my shirt pocket.
Its focal length range is astonishing for such a small camera.
I am primarily interested in black and white IR photos of landscapes, especially skies. The images are easily converted in Paint Shop Pro X.
This camera is ideal in that I need never leave the house without it.
With its very small sensor, the photos are somewhat soft but respond well to sharpening in post-processing.
Overall, I am very happy with this camera- it is exactly what I was looking for.
