When I came across this scene on the shore of Lake Huron on cold day in winter, I knew it would look gorgeous in infrared.
So I came back with my full spectrum camera and an IR filter the very next day around midday, and I was spoiled with prime conditions: a clear blue sky and plenty of sunshine, illuminating the landscape and the boat in the foreground with plenty of IR light. The funny thing is that the boat was blue in reality, making for a rather monochrome scene, while the edited infrared version of this image features two very complementary colours, blue and red, which directs the viewers eye along the trees towards the main subject – the boat.
