La Jete

Taken in the Cedars, Lebanon, La Jetée has become known for being one of the best places to overlook the Kadisha Valley below. At around 2000m elevation, it is said you can see Cyprus on a crisp clear day from here.
I grew up just a 5 minute walk from this spot, relaxing with this view long before it became an attraction. I have photographed it in the summer and winter, in day and night, in HDR and infrared. It is only in infrared, though, that the magical feeling of sitting there is really expressed in an image. The surreal colors match the surreal view.
In this image, two backpackers reach the Jetée to take a well deserved break and observe the sunset over the valley.
