Mount Moran Aspens

Late September often brings the peak of the autumn color in spectacular Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. Here the warm, bright colors of the “quaking” aspen trees contrast with the cool light on distinctive Mount Moran.
Mono Lake Reflection

After waiting in the dark on the edge of Mono Lake, pre-dawn light created this soft glow in the sky and perfectly silhouetted the tufa formations for which the lake is famous.
Jasper Reflection

Upon rounding a bend in the Icefields Parkway in Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada, I came face to face with this dramatic reflection in Studfield Lake. I scrambled down the bank and set up quickly before the ephemeral light and shadow were gone.
Hovenweep Tower

Hiking along the rim of an ancient canyon near the Colorado-Utah border, I spotted some potholes in the rock filled with rainwater. This historic tower, built by the long ago residents of the canyon reflected in these little puddles.
Everglades Sunset

Deep in Everglades National Park in South Florida is little Paurotis Pond. Here the setting sun reflects in the pond’s tropical waters while the voracious mosquitoes gnawed on my arms and legs.
Divine Light

While driving through Mt. Rainier National Park around sunset, I spotted these dramatic light beams shining right across the valley of the Carbon River. After almost running off the narrow road, I quickly grabbed just a few frames before the fleeting light disappeared.
Castle Trail

Hiking the Castle Trail in Badlands National Park, I spotted the broken clouds and spotlighting that made this composition striking and dramatic.

Hiking out to a high spot above Wonder Lake on a visit to Denali National Park in Alaska, I caught the peak of the fall color on the tundra and great evening light on North America’s highest mountain.
Deep Creek Overlook

Fall color in the Great Smokey Mountains can be spectacular. Some spotlighting on the rolling hills often creates lots of drama as in this shot. Just waiting for a while for the clouds to move can often put the light right where you need it.
The God of Health Protection

This is the main peak of the Taimu Mountains in Fujian Province at an altitude of 1480 meters. This is one of the three goddesses in Fujian. It is a sculpture of Ma Xian, and it is also the most needed God of health protection.
Shoubi Nanshan

“Shoubi Nanshan” has two ancient buildings on the mountain in Changle Nanshan Park. Looking at the drum tower I reflected on how our own lives and the memories of my parents can be preserved like ancient buildings forever!
Lianjiang Fishing Festival

On August 16 this year, the Lianjiang Fishing Festival took place near the Back Mountain in Fujian province China. This is the start of the regatta with hundreds of fishing boats taking off on their way to the open sea for the day’s fishing competition.
