EXPLORING THE MAGIC OF INFRARED IN THE LOW COUNTRY OF SOUTH CAROLINA
Focus on the beauty in the landscapes, intimate & grand, the marshes, oceanfront, small seaside villages and the magic of infrared photography in the Low Country of South Carolina. Experience an immersion in invisible light in the field and in the classroom.
Based in Pawleys Island, this workshop will be a total immersion in all things infrared – from the fundamentals of infrared to shooting and post processing for faux color, black/white and your vision. We’ll be visiting locations that are perfect for infrared shooting and will explore long exposures and HDR techniques in the field and the classroom. Come with us and see how ordinary scenes in color can be transformed into magical and ethereal images.
This workshop will celebrate the natural and cultural aspects of life in the low country of South Carolina. This means seascapes, landscapes, scenic, nautical and much more. Think shrimp boats, marshes, forests and seaside towns. We’ll even visit Atalaya, a Moorish-style mansion that invites IR shooting. The magic of infrared photography shines in all kinds of weather! Be amazed at what happens with the light we cannot see. If you’re new to infrared, you’ll quickly be hooked and leave with a new appreciation for what many call “bad, contrasty light.”
During this workshop we will spend much of our time in the field exploring a wide variety of locations on the coast and beyond. Guidance and instruction in the field will help you capture the best images to work with in the classroom when we walk you through a variety of post-processing techniques for different wavelengths of light. Learn how to see a scene in infrared, achieve optimum white balance, and post-process for faux color and black/white images that are ethereal and far beyond the landscape in color.
Jamie and Mark share their knowledge of subjects, photographic skills and techniques for infrared photography that push you to get it right in the field and go beyond ordinary to express your unique vision.
